Pharrell Williams is a man of many hats. Besides being a musician and producer, Williams is most recently named the Chief Brand Officer of Doodles NFT Project. This announcement was made after Williams unveiled an upcoming venture that has been two years in the making – Humanrace’s Suncare line.
Pharrell Williams’s Humanrace Introduces New Suncare Line

Williams’s Humanrace product company will be releasing two mineral-based products from 14 July 2022 (15 July, 12am, SGT). These products are categorised under their new category – Suncare.
Late last year, Humanrace ventured into body care for the first time. They launch two Body Bars, the Reenergizing Whiteclay Body Bar, and the Energy Channeling Charcoal Body Bar that are focused on cleansing and exfoliating the body.
These body bars are made from a soap-free formulation. This helps consumers gently cleanse their skin without stripping it. Both products were developed to provide an effective cleansing experience while maintaining a healthy skin barrier.
This time, Humanrace will be releasing their Suncare line that not only helps protect consumers’ skin from UV rays but shield it from blue light too.
Humanrace Suncare

Similar to the other skincare products in Humanrace, the Suncare line is formulated in partnership with Williams’ dermatologist Dr Elena Jones. She aims to address the misconceptions and importance of sunscreen applications.
“The biggest misconception is that deeper skin tones don’t need sunscreen, but no matter what color your skin is, all skin tones need a daily sunscreen, rain or shine,” Dr Jones shared in a statement.
“I have patients every day asking what they should be doing to care for their skin, the easiest thing to do is start wearing sunscreen daily.”
Ozone Face Protection Daily Moisturizer

One of the Suncare products that Humanrace will be releasing is the Ozone Face Protection Daily Moisturizer.
The Ozone Face Protection Daily Moisturizer uses the brand’s signature snow mushroom extract and non-nano zinc oxide to hydrate and protect the skin. These ingredients aid in protecting the skin from UV rays while also offering blue light protection.
This moisturiser has SPF 30, broad-spectrum protection, and a mineral-based formulation. It is developed for all skin tones.
Ozone Body Protection Cream

The second Suncare product that Humanrace will be releasing is the Ozone Body Protection Cream. This product uses squalane, the company’s signature snow mushroom extract and non-nano zinc oxide with SPF 30.
It is water-resistant, meaning that you can use this when you go to the beach or when you go for a swim, and it has broad-spectrum protection. The Ozone Body Protection Cream is also suitable for all skin tones.
Sustainability
To increase the sustainability of the product line, these two products are refillable. This helps encourage consumers to reduce single-use plastics.
Both products are made using 50% post-consumer recycled landfill plastic, and they are reef-safe, and cruelty-free too.
Pharrell Williams’s Thoughts on the Humanrace’s Suncare Line

Before Williams worked on Humanrace’s latest Suncare products, Williams also didn’t wear sunscreen. “I’ve just been so focused on the three steps of cleanser, exfoliator, and moisturizer for most of my life,” Williams told Esquire over the phone.
After Williams began researching the brand’s Suncare products, Williams was finally convinced about the importance of sunscreen.
“You just can’t afford to not pay attention. Skin cancer is on the rise and our ozone layer is deteriorating at an exponential rate.”
His revelation led to the creation and addition of this new skincare line for his brand.
Unlike other sunscreens which may leave a white cast after application, Williams and the brand’s co-founder Rachel Muskat wanted products that are appropriate for all skin tones. This led to the products’ current formulations where no white cast could be seen after usage.
As mentioned by Williams, “not having a white cast just allows you to not look like you’ve been embalmed.”
Besides the lack of white cast, Williams and Muskat wanted to develop formulas that felt more like moisturisers. Thus, snow mushroom extract, a hero ingredient in Humanrace Humidifying Cream, was added to the products’ formula.
Besides the brand’s signature snow mushroom extract, squalene and aloe were added to the mix to increase the skin’s hydration level.
“It added such a level of hydration that feels good to wear all day,” Muskat said.
